Alibaba Group has announced the opening of a data center in Silicon Valley, its second in U.S., following the one launched in March. But the news keep on going. At the beginning of 2016, an Alibaba data center will open in Europe, as the Chinese company is looking to expand its horizons.

Alibaba Group is a Chinese e-commerce company, founded in 1999, that provides consumer-to-consumer, business-to-consumer and business-to-business sales services via web portals, and has a market value of about $150 billion.

Europe is Alibaba’s next target

Dominating the Asian market, the Chinese company seeked glory and profit over seas, opening an Alibaba data center in U.S., early this year, in March. Satisfied with its entry on U.S. market, they decided to launch another Alibaba data center in American, taking the number of locations opened this year worldwide to four: one in Singapore, one in China and two in the U.S.

This new Silicon Valley site will provide services for customers on the west coast of USA. Elastic Compute, Analytic Database, Key-Value Store, Open Storage or Virtual Private Cloud are some services included.

According to a research by SunTrust Robinson Humphrey Inc and presented by Herrald Current, cloud presents a $120 billion global market opportunity, and AliCloud could provide $1 billion for the company in the next three years.

Trying to enter the cloud market and offer high quality services

Alibaba’s plan is to be an important player on the cloud market, and for this reason the Chinese company will pour $1 billion into its cloud computing push. After this move, AliCloud will be a serious thread to the Amazon’s Web Services.

Will Alibaba data center opened this year help the Chinese company conquer the U.S. market? Or will Alibaba suffer a big hit? Tell us what you think and leave your prediction in the comment section below.
