After conquering the ride-sharing market, Uber is ready to launch another app, focused on delivering food. Going by the name of UberEATS, the food delivery service will initially be available in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Austin, San Francisco, Washington D.C., Houston, Dallas and Seattle, according to TechCrunch.

Ready to ‘fight’ with bigger names on the food delivery market

The same source mentions that the app will be available for both Android and iOS by the end of March, while inhabitants of the above-mentioned cities will also be able to enjoy expanded delivery times in the upcoming periods.

The principle behind UberEATS will be similar to other services, like PostMates or GrubHub. Customers will be able to place their orders by picking from multiple restaurants, while Uber will deliver the food within about 30 minutes, for a $5 fee.

The services was already tested in Toronto and it turned out to be successfully. The bad part, if we can call it like that, is that you will need a separate app in order to use UberEATS.

UberEATS has big chances of being a success

As for the advantages the new service has over their competition, we should mention the huge base of driver Uber has. They can be called and fill in their gaps from their schedule and eventually earn more money.

Besides this, Uber is well known for the easy to use interface and UberEATS won’t be an exception. Finally, budget doesn’t seem to be a problem for the company, so, most likely, they will expand the service by investing in it.

For the moment, UberEATS is available only through the Uber app for requesting rides, and orders can be made just during lunchtime. Eventually, customers will be able to order food for breakfast and dinner as well, from the partner restaurants.
