Amazon breaks another record this holiday season

E-commerce giant Amazon that in the week before Christmas they managed to break another record, adding more than 3 million subscribers to Prime, the company’s $99-per-year service that allows clients to enjoy two-day or even same day deliveries.

Prime subscribers do like to shop a lot

According to CNET, during the holiday season, which for Amazon translates to the period between November 1 and December 19, Prime subscribers ordered more than 200 million items. Also, the retailer sold more than twice when it comes to their own branded devices, as stated by the same source.

Recently, Amazon released the most interesting figures about the holiday season, in what became an annual post-Christmas tradition.

The best seller was by far the company’s 7″ Amazon Fire tablet, with a ridiculously low price of just $50, while Fire Kids Edition and Fire HD 6 tablets were also very popular between buyers.

Between the items that sold very good were also Samsung smart TVs, the Roku streaming set, laptops made by Toshiba and GoPro Hero4 silver action cameras, while gamers opted for Call of Duty: Black Ops III, Fallout 4 and Star Wars Battlefront.

The number of mobile orders, constantly increasing

As for the methods of buying stuff, it seems that a lot of Amazon users preferred shopping on mobile. To be more specific, more than 70 percent of them bought items from a mobile devices. The number of Prime members who opted for this instead of a PC seems to have doubled, compared to last year. Also, the total number of customers who have used the mobile app doubled since last year.

Amazon managed to reach a number of 33 electronics orders per second from a mobile device on Cyber Monday, well known for being the year’s biggest online sales day in the U.S.

Finally, a very interesting fact is that during the same Cyber Monday, Adele’s “25” CD was being bought once in every three seconds.
