There’s no doubt that currently, YouTube is the great leader when it comes to video sharing and viewing, but apparently, Facebook is getting better at this with every day.

Venture Beat claims that according to a recent survey and market research, the social network delivers almost two thirds as many video views as YouTube does. To be more specific, we’re talking about two trillion views, while YouTube reaches three trillion.

Facebook – Growing Strong

Still, content producers started to take Facebook way more serious than last year, while viewers are doing the same thing. The same survey states that from 10,000 consumers in North American and Europe, over 15% watched videos on Facebook in the last month. Also, over 16% declared that they haven’t used YouTube in the past month. Hey, Google, you should be aware of this…

facebook vs youtube

Mr. Zuckerberg and his team have a long way to go before they catch up. Not to mention that they are not using some of YouTube’s key elements, like pre-roll ads, and they charge advertisers if just three seconds of their video is shown. A bit costly, isn’t it?

When it comes to advertising rates, the two platforms can be easily compared, but let’s not forget about one tiny details which could make the difference in the near future. Facebook is by far the most used mobile app!

Mobile is the future and YouTube should consider this

People are using it way more often than the mobile variant of YouTube, not to mention that its video viewers are all logged in. They have access to way more data, useful for targeting specific demographics. In a nutshell, it’s way easier to turn Facebook’s mobile users into revenue and this might be their biggest plus.

What do you think about this? Is there any chance for Facebook to surpass YouTube in the next years or we should just forget about this idea?
